Later this year the attempt will be made to gain the support of some catholics and some bishops. Other attempts will be made to make them look foolish.
I suggested a few weeks ago that it would be better to ask the questions now and avoid wedge issues down the line. NCR is in a position to put together a questionaire that would let candidates present positions in a positive way.
Some of the issues that have to come up are.
Health insurance
The war or the peace
Outsourcing of jobs
The rape of the poor by the rich
Fair trade
The environment
The use of resources.
These are moral questions but the questions that we will be forced into are Gay Marriage,Abortion,and who can go to Communion.
Being out front is the position of leadership. A candidate may not have a perfect answer on every question but we at least know that he thought about the question.
